Sometimes I wonder about the road I'm on
When I feel like a stranger in my own sweet home
When happiness comes so easy, still I can't be satisfied
There's no rest for the wicked
and I feel so tired
I know true love and I've found the best of friends
I haven't gone hungry since God knows when
My enemies are few in number still my fears run wild
There's no rest for the wicked
and I've been runninq many miles
Sometimes I feel I'm in a trance
Other times I'm doing the St. Vitus Dance
Some days I feel at peace within
Then I feel this rope getting mighty thin
Well I heard of a place with an uncloudy day
where sorrow and confusion will surely pass away
I'm running backwards up that mountain
and the grade sure is steep
There's no rest for the wicked
and I need, I need my sleep

| Artist's Note |
The take of "No Rest For the Wicked" is the one and only take we recorded. Two microphones on the drums and everybody playing together at the end of the day. The Fairfield Four were singing this kind of song fifty years ago. They had no problem learning their parts. |
